New song - Need Mixing Advice

Snare - much to 'thinny' - cut some of the top and add some beef
Kick - samer as above, sounds to much like a cardboard box. It needs to carry the song, but it doesn't.
Solo all the guitars and create a "sound picture" with them. The panning is a bit to extreme, which creates confusion rather than a uniform sound-field.

Thanks sjoko! I like it when people are straightforward

Sounds really good for a home recording. That said, here's my comments:

Drums: Snare and kick both need more. The kick has no low-end to it, and the snare needs a fuller sound also - possibly you can just EQ these problems. If not, maybe try micing them differently. Closer = fuller (and generally deeper) sound.

Guitars: This sounds pretty good, believe me I know distorted guitars are hard to record. Still, I'd say it could sound better. They sound a little bit crispy for my taste, rather than crunchy. Did you scoop the mids? It sounds like they are playing through a wah pedal. You could play with the EQ and see if you can get a fuller sound, but you'd probably be better off recording them again with better mic placement and amp settings.

Overall, this is a nice work, especially for a 16 year old. Good job.

Thanks! i've been playin with the drum sound for the past few days. Finally yesterday had a sound tech friend of mine come in (he is a drummer) and we got the sound we were looking for. Sorta modelled it after As I Lay Dying. As for guitar tones...im using Guitar Rig so i basically have unlimited sound shaping tools. Sometimes too much freedom allows me to fuck sounds up haha, so i had a little chorus on the guitars, ill take that off. How are they for panning though? thanks again!
