Hey everyone, a slower more serious (for me anyway) song I wrote with Rami's drum track. I went for kind of a dreamy feel with the guitar tones/effects. I was playing with my organ while writing this too, trying to fill the song up with kind of a quiet ambiance that grows with the music.

ANy comments, suggestions are very appreciated. Like anything I can do to improve the mix or so on?

Lost in a Dream

Thanks :)

Hey SnakeDude,

I like the use of the wah, I hope it is the wah! :D
I love the really mellow sections just before the verses, I think your vocals could come more forward in the mix and maybe less effects on the voice!

The organ is just perfect for this tune!.......I can see why the "HOTTIE" likes your organ, because I haven't even seen it or played with it and I like it!

The bass tone is sweet!

A little busy here and there SnakeDude, but I think if the vocals were bought more forward it would even things out a touch!

Very Dreamy SnakeDude and the drums by RAMI are sounding excellent in this piece, nice work guys!

hmmmm..... unless there was some small message at the bottom of your post in size 1 font that I didn't see, I don't believe you because as you may recall The Weedwacker even chased Satan off!!! Whoa

Hehe, in case you want the chords from the snake people... most the song is Dm C G it switches up here and there to G Bb C G
What small message? Like I said, this sharky ain't 'fraid no Weed Whacker...he messes with me, I'll bite his head off...(or organ), whichever comes first!!! :D

*hiding behind r00, pointing to him* ;) :D :D :D

Snaker, the hats sound as un-harsh as they can be, you did a great job of improving the drums track. I remember this track, it's an older one and my drum recordings always had harsh hats and cymbals back then. You tamed them as well as you could and they even sound good now. Cool to hear a drum track from a completely different tune being used in a much more creative way...Good job, man.

Its good, the playing is fine and it has a great vibe. I like the ending quite a bit. The vox are WEIRD! I dont know if thats good or bad, its just what they are  I couldnt understand without the lyric sheet but then again I dont know if I need to, they are almost an instrument of sorts.

I like it, really. A straight-forward tune with unconventional vox. Very cool

Hey thanks Gortser, Ramster, and DavidKster :D

I do like the vox effects, but I'll mess with them and see how that turns out... I'll try another mix tomorrow and adjust the flange/volume some. I agree with DavidK that it's almost an instrumental mentality the way I handled them. It's hard for me to tell how clear they are since I know them so well, but after the comments I'll try and adjust things a bit.

Rami, cool man. I was listening to different frequency ranges and noticed everything above 15K was extra hi hat sounds so I cut all that. Cool it worked out and it was a lot of fun doing this track. We'll have to jam again sometime... Thanks man  :D

Gorty, I thought I'd write up a track you'd think is "dreamy" so I'd put the The Grottiest R00 to sleep so I could sweep the "HOTTIE" off her feet for good with my snakedog tailtail :p

Thanks again guys, appreciate it... cheers!

Okay, now I'm officially scared of you and your "maneater" label!! :p

Is it me!?!

I thought there are some great ideas, very cool sounds, but, imo, there seems to be no dynamics to the guitars. What I mean is, they're all loud, all the time. I think the song would sound way better if the guitars were backed off a few db's during the vocals, the rhythm guitar(s) not quite as loud as the soloist, etc. I definitley think a remix would be in order! Just my humble yet worthless opinion.

No malice intended, please forgive me . . .

Hey thanks for the comments man... Appreciate the constructive criticism. The only dynamics I did was increasing the intensity of playing each instrument during certain parts while tracking. But I'll keep what you said in mind when I mix this again tomorrow and see how it sounds.. I'll try using a volume envelope on the guitars as well. Maybe that'll free the vox up a little more too.
Cheers!

I hope that open eye can watch like 8000 miles away! Alrighty, well excuse me as I leave and escape with the "HOTTIE" easily :p :p :)

Rocks dude! I really dig the guitars, the chord progression im totally digging. Nice leads as usual, love the wah effect. Drums sound outstanding. Vocals sound nice, intense in the right spots. Im listening on headphones so not much in the way of mix comments, maybe vocals a bit louder? I'll listen on monitors when its not 5:30am, could be the headphones. Wish i could be more help man.

Take care

For the record,,, Rami great skills on the drum"B"s and shit.
Really Bombsquad style, heavy Double D megastyle, funkass biach style.
You feel me :D

in other words; great work rami :)

I like lots about this song....
- soothing main guitar rhythm, phaser/flanger fits well
- wah wah fills in just right, both during breaks and with building vocals
- vocals are expressive a la Snakedog (could be up in volume a tad).
- organ fills really nice
- drums are great, Rami
- sorry about your dog though (lol)
Very suitable title, it fits the style of the music...Lost in a Dream....

DIS ROX DA NIZZLE FO SHIZZLE :D ......(I dug it,nice work Rami/Snakedog!)

edited cause boss walked in and I had to hit send before I added Snakedogs name in there :p !

Gary, thanks man! Glad it rocked ya, cause if you ask me... there's nothing better than rocking :D I'm still completely addicted to the wah pedal too... I thought that phase would pass... but nope, just love the raw emotional nastyness.

About the vocals, I've messed with a bit to hopefully clear them up some... I'll post a new link in a few minutes :)

Thanks ido, glad you like the atmosphere. I'm hoping I learned a few things with this mix, my guitar has been MIA so I was trying to pick up some mixing tips and spent more time on mixing than usual.
About the dog, don't try time machines around them... possibly because time machines have never worked so it most likely won't and WILL blow up. Second of all, especially don't try time machines built by chicks! Bad move. jk chicks :D
Anyway, thanks for the listen! :)

Is everything tuned properly or on key?

Did it sound really off to you? Somewhat off? Any idea what sounds off?
I always tune everything before recording but my guitar is cheap and goes out of tune easy. Still if something sounds off I'm guessing it's my vocals, I'm no singer ;) There's just some songs I feel i can't express the same way as an instrumental only.
