Ok, If anyone wants to indulge me a second listen, my burnt ears and numb legs would appreciate it. I tried to address the suggestions given on the first post: Lower the vox, less chorus/verb on vox, raise the guitars (I re-recorded them), tame the snare, bump the bass and widen the mix. Let it Rain1 is the original mix from the first post.

Thanks in advance for helping a mix newbie - :)

Wow! Man, the difference is night and day. The width of the mix, and the way everything now sits in it's own space...way better. Congratulations!

If there was a prize for most improved mix, this might get it from me :)

Great work!

Dave

By the way, what was your signal chain for the new guitar tracks? They sound very good.

Dave

Dave,
Thanks for your ears and 'atta boys'!! That mix 'bout kicked my butt last night! I'm still on a bit of a learning curve with all the steps, gizmos, do's, and don'ts.

By the way, what was your signal chain for the new guitar tracks? They sound very good.

I'm still using basically the same chain (sadly, cuz I'm lazy and mic'n up the 5150 ain't popular when the fam is sleeping )

It's basically my Epi Les Paul (w/EMGs that will be getting yanked out soon) into a Guitar Rig 4 plug-in :o - the difference THIS time is I discovered this thing called on TONE knob on my LP...hmm, been there all this time...who knew? ;) I set it to 5.

For the clean tone I borrowed a Strat, intonated it carefully, then into another GR4 patch with less 'suck' than the original. I also set the tone at 5.

Lazy and uncool, huh? Ya, I know. Don't tell anyone, but I also used a little bit of Ozone on the final. :)

When can we hear more of your tasty tracks? When can we buy the record?

Brad

This sounds pretty solid. Sorry, I didn't catch the first version until now and the difference is huge. There is the volume of course, but the "widening" helped a great deal as well. I have no real suggestions for you, but just wanted to mention I checked it out and it sounded good. Big improvement.

Thanks for the listen heatmiser! I appreciate your time and ears :D
