I took a 2-day trip all by my lonesome to a secluded cabin and lugged some recording equipment with me. This was the result.

Would love you get some feedback on song, video, or anything else. Thanks!

Disclaimer: I know the recording is not as clean as it could be; I was working with some limitations. But I did the best I could with what I had available.

I think it is a solid recording. I'm really in to folky sounding music these days and this good stuff. I think the mandolin and xylophone are a little to loud most of the time.
Good lyrics and enjoyed the song. The video was a nice touch, definitely added a taste to bring out the nostagic thing you were going for. Keep up the good work

This is amazing man. It brought chills down my spine. Nothing to critique other than that it sounds really, really good and the song and video is pretty much perfect to me. I see pickups on your guitar, are you using them in the mix?

Rockymtn: thanks for the compliments and the listen! I agree about the levels. Unfortunately, I had to record this on my iPhone with GarageBand, and it only allows one volume for the track. I agree, though, that I should probably bring them down a little.

Dainbramage: thanks! No, the pickup wasn't used. The acoustic was miked with a CAD Trion 6000 -- the one in the video.

Ruden: Thanks, I appreciate the listen!

That was just fantastic, great song.So tough to write such a introspective song, keep it simple ,and engage the listners emotions, and you have accomplished all this ...no crits at all, this will go down as one of my all time favs I have heard on this forum.....

Thanks so much. :)

God, what a cool tune! The imagery combined with the song was really quite powerful. But I gotta say, I wanted to hear your voice more. You were too often buried by the sounds that surrounded you. Bring that vox level up...

Beautiful work...

WhiteStrat: Thanks! Yeah I think the mix is a little out of balance for sure. I think the mandolin and glockenspiel are a bit too loud most of the time, which is not helping the vocal be heard, but perhaps I could stand to bring up the vocal a bit overall as well.

kOr: Thanks!

DallasB:I appreciate it!

Sounds really f'in good to me. Top drawer! Really like the song, it made me think, like a good song should. Simple but highly effective. :thumbs up:

The video is pretty awesome too!

Thanks for sharing it. I really enjoyed that. Definitely in my Top10 HR songs that I've had the pleasure to find.

Not much I can add. I really liked the song. It's very well written.

Only thing I can add is there is a minor pitch problem here and there. very minor though.

Mr Clean: Thanks for the listen and the compliments! I checked out your stuff a bit as well on soundcloud, and it sounds pretty cool! I really liked "Walking in the Rain." Gotta love the glockenspiel! :)

TripleM: Thanks for the listen! I do know what you mean about the few pitchy moments, but I was on a limited time schedule so I didn't have the luxury of endless takes. :)

Beautiful in sound, sentiment and arrangement - music and picture. This is too good to mention imperfections. You no doubt know what they are already anyway.

Hey Tim, good to hear from you! Thanks for the listen and the respectful comments as always! :)

Wow... That there is just some good songwriting, man. All the while I was listening, I was trying to see if I could hear this recorded in a hi-fi studio, produced up, etc... Ya know... It just might not fit. There are some mix issues that I maybe would have tried to fix or do differently, but man... Talk about capturing the feeling of a song in the recording. Bravo, man. Very well done. Kudos. Thank you so much for sharing.

PoeticIntensity: Thanks so much. I definitely know what you mean about the mix issues. The glock is really loud at times, among other things. But the whole point was to take this little vacation and write and record a new song while I was there. I had a bunch of equipment issues the first day, so I ended up having to go to Plan C, which meant recording the whole thing on my iPhone with GarageBand. I did the best I could in the time I had, but I decided to just leave it as it was and stick to my plan of finishing it up before I left the cabin.

Mr. Clean: Thanks again! :)

Fabulous stuff. the melody combined with your voice is very affecting.
The mandolin was a bit too loud for me but otherwise excellent stuff. The vid did the job as well.!
