New singer

Hi,i'm new to the forum and to singing,don't know if this is the right section,if it's not let me know. I've started taking singing lesson 2 months ago but my teacher never makes me play high notes songs like acdc or guns n roses stuff,i don't know but seems to me that's in my range. So she makes me sing something like "come as you are" by nirvana and takes it down 3 halfsteps. So i tried to sing "rock n roll train" by acdc and to me seems right as far as singing the roght notes but my voice looks to me like it is too weak(i think she makes me always sing using chest voice)and so my head voice or falsetto is too weak because i never used it so here is the question: could u listen to my audio file of that song and tell me if it's head voice or falsetto and if it's weak,if it can get stronger with practice and get any good?Would be great!i don't know how to post the file here(i'm using an iphone right now)so if you'll help me send a dm with your email address and i'll send you the file,thanks!

What makes you so sure she's not a good teacher? She probably hears the limitations in your voice and is teaching you accordingly. We all think we're better than we really are when we start out at something. The better you become as a singer, the better a teacher she'll seem to be.

By the way, if you think the singer for ACDC sings with a head voice, you should probably keep taking lessons until you're qualified to criticize your teacher. He's singing with a full voice, not a falsetto.

Perhaps you should address your questions to your teacher first?

It is actually very typical for people to want to be able to, or think they can, sing higher than what they are able to (or should be) singing. The popular sound is high tenor and this is true for "most" music. The truth is though, often time you stretch your voice to sing where you think you should be singing. Though it may not feel bad at the time, you can permanently damage your vocal cords. Most voice teachers will be able to read and see the sings of a vocalist stretching their voice too far. And though you may disagree, falsetto, should not be your primary focus. You really need to start your lessons at an appropriate range and then learn to expand from there. Listen to your teacher, chances ara that they know what they are talking about. After all, they have been teaching, or singing themselves, for quite a while.

Posting recordings of you singing, if you really want to then do it (once you have five posts). But chances are is that we are not going to agree with you just to agree. The truth is we will not be able to see you sing, see if you are stretching or out of range or any of the other signs that may be present.
