Hi there,

I'm putting in a new shed out the back and reserving a good section of it for a recording studio. I was wondering if anybody could point me in the direction of some good literature on how to build a basic studio ie. what shape to make the rooms to prevent standing waves etc. also what materials to line the insides of the walls with, what materials to line the outside of walls with to prevent noise entering/escaping.

Also, If I was recording using a computer, what would be the best setup for recording stereo drums?? I don't know that much about the equipment or the software that's available these days. It seems that if I use a little mackie mixer (or something) to mix the drums on to two stereo channels and then into the sound card I would have to use outboard effects for the kick drum etc. Otherwise I'd have to have a multichannel soundcard and feed the mics in directly and control everything from the computer screen right?

If somebody could tell me about the advantages/disadvantages of different setups that would help me heaps. Any literature would be good to.

Thanx, Paul.
