New Peavy studio mics

I was wondering if anyone had tried the M-1 or M-2 and if anyone had any thoughts about them?
 
Peavey.... ::shudders::

I've never had a good experience with any piece of equipment that had "Peavey" written on it.

Yeah, I second that. Does anyone remember when they came out with that big ass console about, oh 15 years ago?

Don't discount Peavey right away. The tube mic pre they make (VMP-1) is a very nice piece of gear. All the mics they make that I've personally used sucked but that was all their dynamic mics primarily meant for live use. I'd be interested to hear them first before I dismissed them out of hand.
 
I gotta' Peavy Bass-Reflex woofer that I've owned for 'bout
a hundred years! Still sounds great!
 
My old singer swears by peavy mics, he had this one ($110) and loved the thing, compared to sm58 and his akg. I ll be the first to admit peavys not great, but they make some good stuff. i got a Envoy10, lil 35 watt combo $225, for that price and the quality, its not bad at all. good for writting songs by my self. I had a 5150 for like 2 days then returned it. But they make a 100 watt tube head(3 channel) that sounds good.
1 rule of peavy- dont buy used amps(combos)
One good thing is that peavy 4x12 cabs run 4,8,16 ohms, not all cabs run all 3. ( but, that doesnot justify the sound of the cab-to me it is lacking)
 
I've had good luck with their instruments. My dad bought a Peavey T-40 bass sometime in the 80s, which I'm currently using. It's a real solid instrument. When I went to get my first guitar, carefully comparing price to quality led me to a Peavey Predator (strat knock-off). When I was ready for a somewhat better guitar, I tried a number of instruments in the $600 range, and I settled on a used Peavey Odyssey. So I currently have 3 Peavey instruments in the basement.
 
I just got a Peavey Ce Mic for Christmas - $100 new. I've been trying to get some advice on the best way to record an acoustic Yamaha into the Tascam 4 track. The condenser pick up direct inject sounded jangly and trebly. We even damped the b/e strings with tissue paper. Tried the Peavey to record today and it sounds 200%. Even my vocal is half passable. The working muso who sold it to me said it was as good as the berringer and would be better than the SM 58 for recording guitar rather than live work? Any advice on recording the acoustic still greatly appreciated. - Happy New Year - Mike. PS Does anyone know how Springsteen got his Tascam to sound so good on Nebraska. My brother said it was his $million stuiod remix???
 
I remember seeing that the Nebraska recording was done on a very expensive 4 track porta..Not a Tascam...I dont remember the brand...Also it is correct that the studio mixing and mastering were pro...Dam what was the brand of that 4 track??Now thats gonna bug me.LOL
