You bet! be sure to see the link at www.whencowsfly.com
So, I need to get some pre amps for recording drums and perhaps a piano. Right now I have a behringer dual pre (cheap) and a ART TUBE channel. Both these are "tube" pres
designed to 'warm up' my sound.
I would like to get a solid state pre with really low noise and a lot of gain. I dont care about onboard compression or onboard eq because I already have other devices in the rack to take care of that. What I need is just clean, transparent, solid state pres, with phantom power, balanced in and out and/or really clean tube pres that don't sound tubey for around 300-400 dollars or less. I could spend more or less if spending and extra 100$ will make a big difference in sound.
Much of the hype is around consumer products geared to home recording and multifunction devices or home recording on gear that is not that clean. IMHO
I imagine that there are some general answers to this question such as a general response for a condensor mike is a AT4033 or some other time tested well worn product.
I would like to get 2 channel pres that rack mount but I really am looking just for a good clean sound vs price per channel. I will probably need about 4 channels worth.
These pres will be doing drum overs and other condensor mike (generally) applications
with Marshall v67s AT4033s and some other AT mikes.
