Here's a song that I just finished remixing. This is not completely finished. I still need to add bass and maybe a lead somewhere. I would like to get some feedback on what is there so far. Like I always say - have at 'er :D
The song is called In Her Eyes

Signal Chain:
Vocals -> Rode NTK -> TC Electronic Triple C Comp (Light Male) -> Alesis Studio 24 -> ADAT
Kramer Guitar -> Roland GP8 -> Marshall 4100 -> Alesis Studio 24 -> ADAT
Drums -> Cakewalk Midi Drums -> Alesis 24 -> ADAT
Effects on Mixdown -> Lexicon PCM80 (Hall 2)
Compressor on Mixdown ->TC Electronic Triple C Comp (Custom Patch)
Stereo Mixdown -> ADAT-> Alesis Studio 24 -> Lexicon/Triple C -> USB Converter -> Computer
Mix in Box -> EQ using Sound Forge Studio 6 Graphic EQ.

Very nice, especially the main vocal. :) The two guitars sound good... maybe reduce the chorus effect on them. Might sound good to have an added acoustic gtr, or replace one of the electrics with a strummed acoustic.

Tim

Nice tune. I agree with Tim on the guitars. They are "wet". I think they would sound better if they were more natural. They aren't bad, but sound a bit over done. Vocals are nice. Good and clean. they really stand out as good. Probably wouldn't hurt to bring the drums up a little. They shouldn't step on anything, and would fill some of the tune up that is behind the vocals. Just nit picking. Good tune. Let the backing stuff fill it up a bit. Sounds really nice.

This is good stuff. I really dig your voice!
I actually like the wet sound on the guitars...
maybe you could try doing that for the verse, then for the choruses try Tim's additional strummed acoustic idea... that might sound cool, a bit of a change.
Overall I really enjoyed this one and didn't really find anything wrong... Good work :D

Great voice, real smooth. I found the vibe of the song real mellow, really enjoyable. Love the harmony for the "in her eyes". I like the idea of the added acoustic, but I think the guitars you have sound good. Great song really enjoyed it, sorry i don't have any real mix comments.

Thanks Tim – I do have a friend with an acoustic, maybe I’ll borrow it and add that acoustic sound and do a different mix. It would probably go good on a ballad like this.

Thanks Dogman – the vocals are what I am really working on lately so I appreciate the comments by you and Tim. I’ll try to bring the drums up a bit on my next mix.

Thanks SnakeDog – appreciate the compliments on the vocals. Well we have a tie vote for the chorus effect on the guitars. Not sure what I’ll do now  lol. Maybe a bit of both will do it - I’ll have to play around a bit with the acoustic.

Thanks Gary – again I’ve been working on my vocals lately so I’m glad they sound ok. Glad you like the mix so far.

yo man
very pretty song.

i think the arrangement of the guitars does not do justice to the song. no dynamics or space, just kind of droney harmonic support, and very wall-like as well.

try experimenting with different guitar arrangements.

peace

Nice song. I like the guitar sounds. Nice and dreamy.

Like you, I don't have access to an acoustic at the moment either. But I get sick of that "acoustic" singer-songwriter sound anyway. So I like what you've done here. It would sound cool with some sparse electric lead/FX sound alongside.

Have fun

Hey lotuscent and aspiring ! Glad you liked it. I'll be looking to get some more variety in there in my next mix - some leads or different guitar parts to spice it up....(and it needs some bass) thanks for listening :)

Hi Ido1957,
Have you done a remix or made any changes in the new year?
I've only just stumbled on this thread & therefor the song.
It's a really nice, positive vibe. It sort of reminds me of Clapton's Wonderful Tonight - different sounds but simialr feel.
I can't hear any acoustic guitar so I'll take a risk & assume you've not made any rad changes.
Good work, thanks for putting it out there.
Cheers

Hey Gerry,

I am a big fan of your tunes and this one is one that I will wait until you add the bass and lead guitar to make a comment on the mixing. I have listened to this tune a few times as well as "Overtime" and I know you will churn out a nice mix.

Ok one comment!....A little more in the mids on the guitars and bring the drums forward in the mix!

I'll stay tuned! :)

Hey Ido, really catchy tune with a great lead vocal. I wish I could make my vocals sound that good.

Personally, I like the sound of the guitar, but might be inclined to add a little something behind in the mix, to take a little bit of the "lightness" out. Also, drums were buried a bit, but you know that by now.

Nice job! Can't wait to hear the next iteration! :D

Nice tune. Nice everything. I would dial down the rhythm guitar a db or two. WAIT! Only because that would give it that dreamy movie sound that I think this song should have. :) Also because it distract me from the vocals just a little bit. :)

Otherwise, good just the way it is. :)

And she makes you laugh....
