Just curious--I think I know what you mean, but why not?

I thought songs are copyrighted as soon as they're created, and then if you want to, they can be registered with the copyright office.

I guess it should be "don't post copyrighted material (unless you own the copyright)"

The intention is not to post things like "Fade to Black" by Metallica, then distribute it via my server, so Metallica sues me. I guess I just don't want to be sued for providing a free service that is free of ads and restrictions (except for the copyright thing).
