New mixes, still rock and roll

Kind of a 70s retro thing, no?

I like the mix best at the loud section beginning at about 3:00. At other times I think that either the vocal or lead guitar is a little too prominent. The dramatic stops work well.

Hey LI Slim, what else would you expect from a guitar player behind the mixin' console ;-)

Sounds good stickman. I really could use some more bass guitar though.

70's...well I was there then hehehehe

Yeah I was there in the 70's and I guess it's showing in my music. Now if I can just manage to have my own "Frampton Comes Alive" I can giggle all the way to the bank hehehehehe

Thanks for taking the time to listen. Glad you found something in there ya liked:)

PS to Dorker: I am NEVER gonna push the bass guitar up to the front of the mix like they do now. Never ever ever ever ever ever so there:)

hey,
I listened to "shadow and rain" On the virgin listen, the first two drum fills caught my attention in a bad way. I listened again about 4 -times and they are in time and proper but, I thought they might be pre-mature. I felt like I'd missed something.
The only other thing was a drownding out of the vocal aroung 3:13.
your good at this stuff. Always very clean tracks with no clipping and a very well rounded mix.
How do you track your vocals?
If I recall correctly, you use dddrummer. Can you purchase this only by download?

I started useing d-loops cause it was all I had. Now I kinda dig them and have had some success with sonic foundry's "drum tools" and a sample of dddrummer. It is rewarding to get what you want out of such a simple application.

Thanks for the song. You had some cool verses in this one and a full, dynamic mix. It shows through that you're having a ball doing this.

Rock on!!

Some days...

...I couldn't tell ya how I recorded something if my life depended on it hehehe. But as a rule, when recording vocals I make sure the mic isn't clipping and hit record and start from there. I also tend to keep 6the levels low on my board when I am singing. You can always bring a signal up after its recorded but its a bitch to do the reverse and make it sound good. After that I level the track out in Cakewalk. I then make a copy of the track and start messing around with effects and eq as I want or need.

You are correct that I only use Drag and Drop Drummer. You can order a CD. Matter of fact, unless, something's changed thats the only way you can order it. For the $$$ its a killer bit of work for sure!

Thanks for taking the time to listen, your input on the mix and your kind words regarding the song. I DO have a blast doing this and its also something I can't imagine not doing.

Now if I can just figure out how to make a few dollars with it hehehehe

nice job

Hey dude, I'm not going to repeat any nitpicks. I just want to say that I liked the song, the overall sound, regardless of tiny mix glitches that I really didn't hear, and the overall feel of the song. I thought it was pretty rockin'. Give us some more. Silver
