here it is after various attempts to get an ideal guitar sound thanks to many and especially Metalhead. This a complete track and Im looking for feedback.
Basically I mixed down the song from Sonar and edited using
Sound Forge. I used Waves C1 compression, Waves ultramaximer, bbe sonic, and Izotope Ozone. Im pretty happy with it, but its missing something. Let me know what you guys think.

Listening to this on headphones.....

I like the vocals on the chorus, very cool effects...

The guitars have a great sound for this type of music, the playing is good and the mixing/panning worked out well.

The bass drum could come up a bit, can't really hear it as much as I would like.

The mix might be a little too compressed, but I'm no mix master, so take that as you will.....

Cool tune. I think it might have too much bottom end. Seems a bit muddy there. That's the only real nit I find. I like the feel of the tune. I think you got a decent guitar sound. Vocals are pretty cool. Just a bit of low end build up here. That seems to take the snap away from the kick.
Cool tune man.

...

Everything seems to sit really well. I dig the mix-up around 2 min mark. There's an overall fizz or fuzz, I can't tell if it's in the guitars or maybe a clipping of something. But, it's not necessarily a bad thing, I just don't know if it's supposed to be there or not. If the bass guitar is distorted too, that might be a bit too much distortion. But again, cool how it is.

I agree the bass(kick) drum is a bit lacking in the mix

should I cut the low end of the guitars, bass , or vocals to make room for the kick drum?

I found that by boosting the mid-low frequency range, I was able to save a kick once.

I'm listening on a PC speaker set-up, but it's a pretty good one. It's just not an ideal listening situation....

First off, it's a pretty dark mix overall. Not much high end there at all. The kick is kind of woofy. That seems to be what is muddying it up the most. I think you should try cutting alot of 250 - 300 Hz out of the kick and boost it up around 4-5k for some click (if it's there at all).
The snare is pretty lost in the mix as well.

It's definitely a good idea to high pass the guitars. I usually high pass my guitars at around 100 Hz or maybe a little higher. I usually try to find the focus of the bass drum sound (or create one with eq) and maybe cut that spot a little in the bass. One or the other is going to control the low end.

I think the kick is pumping the compression. Do you have bus compression on the mix, or the drums? I can hear the overheads ducking back behind the kick sometimes. It may be overall mix compression and the kick is just triggeering it the most, it could be my speakers partially.....worth looking into though.

i think the guitars are a little to fuzzy and not tight enough (just barely though ) but the drums are really weak and need to cut through the mix alot in this kinda of music (snare and kick especially in this case) like the vocal effects
