Nice kick sounds, thats all i could make out, i kept hearing pops and cracks and it kept jumping??? I'm not sure whats going on... Might be my PC, but it my studio one, so very high spec.

Kinda Korn-ish there for a minute... especially on the bridge/chorus...

I can't crank it here at work to really listen to the guitars.

That is a 7 string, isn't it? If so, what kind?

*WARNING* Cellar here demonstrates his perpetual noobyism
Is there any DI on the guitars?

No its all mic'd cabs Cellar.
And yep its a 7.
You captured a very nice and filthy guitar tone! As I said, it's kinda Korn-ish, from what I can tell on the guitars also, nevertheless, a good job capturing it.

What was used in the tracking of this?

I just had another listen, its still there, i guess it must be my PC :(

i'll have another listen another time on a different PC.

Oh. You're one of those kids with nice toys... :D

Aww cumo'n man LOL!
Its not the toys its the engineer!

(And maybe the toys help a little.?

This sounds fantastic. Could not criticize a damn thing! Love the drum sounds and the layered vocals. Professional!

When I crank it up the drumset has a very clear live sound as if the drummer's in the room with me playing along with the recording. The staccato phrase endings of the guitar have almost a motivic relationship to aspects of the drum sound, the re the drums' crisp distinct attack. And having the reverb just on the vocal and not on the drums/gtr (sounded like that anyway) accentuates those characterisics.

Good one.

Chris, very nice guitar tone. I agree with the Cellar man, in it has some sounds of Korn. Song is totally different from them. Very cool. I don't hear anything on my end that I would say should be changed. Sounds good here.

Have you ever considered being a mentor and taking on a protoge? Your work always astounds me...really.

Definitely.
Even if I had such wonderful toys at my disposal, I'd still be recording crap for the most part.
I started to D/L this last night, so's I could add it to my collection, but I got kicked off (damned dial-up) at 80% and was too disgusted to start again :(

Horns to the finster-man!

Ohh god, what a sh*t mix.
Only kiddin man. Sounds really good. Very clean mix. The guitar at the intro doesnt sound too great but once everything else kicks in the guitar tone works. Would sound alot better if the guitar recording had some more space. By this i mean not so up front and (dont hate me for saying this) direct sounding. Maybe add some reverb or tweak the distortion settings or use a far mic also and then put them in phase with the close mics at mix down.
The snare fits this style soo much, nice and tight and really hi and punchy. The kick drum is bugging me a little. You maybe boosted the hi end too much or cut too many mids or cut too many lows.
Great stuff though Finster as usuall.
