I am setting up a home recording studio and having a few issues I would really appreciate some help with.

I have:

Laptop with N track Studio

Shure vocal mic to BBE 882i Sonic Maximizer to Behringer Xenyx QX1202USB USB Audio Mixer
Guitar pickup to amp
Shure cardiod mic from mixer to maximizer to amp

Two powered monitors, Yamaha HS80M Studio Reference Monitor plugged into MAIN L and R on mixer

The problem is the maximizer doesn't seem to be doing anything,
and I get no audio from the monitors

Any help is much appreciated, if you like I can give my email address and/or phone #

Thanks

~Jonathan

How the heck are you plugging the mic into the BBE...???
There's no mic input on the BBE, it takes line-level sources.

Why do you think you even need the BBE in the signal path? Just plug the mic into one of the preamps on the mixer.

Also....WTF is the a mic -->going to the BBE-->going to an amp(???) all about....???
That makes no sense and has ZERO application.
What are you trying to do with that hook-up?
Again....lose the BBE.
Plug the mic into a preamp on the mixer....place the mic in front of the guitar amp if you want to record the amp with the mic.

How about you describe with you are trying to do or at least what you think you are trying to do, and then we can tell you how to hook things up to achieve that. :)
I'm assuming you want to record your guitar with one mic...and vocals with the other...?

Welcome to HR KS!

First off, just forget about the Sonic Maximizer at this point. Actually IMO, forget about it altogether...

I am not familiar with N-Track, but you would likely need to select the Xenyx driver, as the ASIO input/output from any DAW (Digital Audio Workstation/software recording program).

Have you downloaded/installed the driver software from the Behringer site?

Also, I believe there is a switch on the mixer, to hear playback from your DAW.

There is much info in the stickies (top posts in forums), that can answer a bunch of setup questions.

Thanks for the replies first off, basically I recorded my debut album last year and bought equipment to remaster all the songs,

Vocal mic separate from guitar mic, exactly.

I guess I'll return the maximizer and just plug directly into the mixer for both mics.

"Have you downloaded/installed the driver software from the Behringer site? "

No not yet. Installing now.

Downloaded N-Track. Easy and clean, no *&*@!! download mananger or hidden taskbars!
It installed ok but when I tried to open it is crashed and stuck saying my Pianoteque Play and Cakewalk VST had errors and then we got a "fatal error" and that was goodnight Vienna!

So I unstalled Pi Play and deleted the Cakewalk VST folder (I hate Sonar X1 anyway and I can easily restore it) . THIS time the software flew up. (never had this happen with any other DAW software)

Ooooff! WHAT a busy GUI! (note to DAW software developers at the noob end of the market...KISS FCS!) . No sound from the demo tracks. Found souncard (noob would struggle) GEEZ! Too much information. "I" found my "Delta ASIO 1") fairly quickly but then I have been downloading and playing with all sorts of DAWs for best part of 5 years. Noob again will struggle. But it did play ok and clearing down the demo song and doing a quick piece to mic was pretty easy.

To OP. I would forget the monitors for now because your experimental pluggings about are bound to result in loud squealy noises. Plug some headphone into the mixer, bugs will do, and try to get the demo song to play back in them.
Then, plug in a mic and get the METER ON THE MIXER MOVING. You should also be able to hear your voice on headphones. Now you can attempt to find the mixer's usb input in N-Track. It could well be called "usb micropnone" and assuming you are using Win 7* there could be some sorting about to do in the sound system setup of that.

*There is a 64 bit and 32 bit version of N-Track. Have you got the right one?

Dave.
