Hello all,
I am in a band (see us here www.gotwood.tk ) that has had 6 tracks recorded by someone who knew what they were doing, however since then we have written new songs and i want to record them myself as i intend to give the recorded tracks away on cd's to premote future gigs.
We have very basic equipment consisting of:
1 small condensor mic
1 dynamic microphone sutable for guitar cabinates and toms ect
2 condensor mics designed for vocal use
a samson mixpad 12
what i am suggesting doing is getting the band playing together, but just recording the guitars (two guitar one bass) from the mixer into a tape or directly into a computer, this can't really be altered but should be sufficiantly bright anyway.
the drums will be recorded afterwards while i play to the guitars, the dynamic mic will be at the front of the kit, the small condensor angled at the snare and hi hats (i use very few drums)
finally vocals will be recorded similar to the guitar and the track will be combined in cakewalk.
could this work, what would the quality be like? thanks, tom
