So a few years ago I had a decent little set up using a Fostex MR8, some 57s and condensor. I used a generic behringer euro whatever mixer and a Presous Bluetube. I mixed at all through Cubase SE It sounded alright but it could have been much better. My fostex broke and ive been out ever since.
Two years later
I just got a new HP Pavillion laptop 4 g ram, dual core etc. Pretty sure it will be able to handle whatever.
I have been reading around and im thinking the usb/firewire interface method is the way to go.
I will primarily be recording vocals, guitar(mostly miced cabs) and drums.
Ive looked into a few interfaces like the Edirol FA-66, or the UA-25EX, or even a Firebox but i really dont know.
I guess i am looking for any sort of recomondation. I have roughly 300-350 to spend, but I dont want to waste my money If im not going to get a real nice sound. Also would other software I get make a difference in sound i.e. getting a better cubase or something like wavelab too....
anddddd I heard that I wont be able to use my bluetube becuase the pres in an interface render them obsolete, is this true.
Thank you.
