senior newbie caveman
Hello me again, supernewb. OK, Alesis multi mix 16 firewire, 7 drum mics, acid pro 7, mixcraft 5. Pc is beyond required specs of software.
Two issues.
1. with mixcraft, I can record all seven seperate tracks with no problems and good sound for the most part. The problem is when I hit play using the alesis mixer as my playback device, it usually doesn't work, sometimes, but usually not. I have to go in and switch over to wave for playback, and yes I have the aslesis set as playback device.

2. When using acid pro 7, I can record all seven tracks just fine, again sounding ok. In acid when I hit play, There is absolutely no issue with playback through the alesis mixer., my acid problem is intermitent audio cut out while recording.

Any thoughts for a caveman drummer? Like I said, PC is beyond specs, defragged, and not really used for anything but recording and e-net
Please help!!

Make sure your Alesis drivers are up to date. Do a clean install of your OS and then only install your Alesis drivers and either mixcraft or Acid pro. If the problem is fixed then you know another program or driver is causing the issue.

So do you recomend system restore or restore to factory? I have the most current alesis drivers. I was thinking of doing factory reboot and starting over, but was hoping for other options.

I usually just wipe the hard drive clean and start fresh.

There are probably a few things you can try before completely wiping your HDD. Have you cut off all your non-essential processes like anti-virus, automatic updates, etc.

I have not done either. I am currently scouring the web for the most efficient way of setting my stuff from scratch. I only use this particular PC for audio recording and internet. I would be ok with losing internet if it would help my cause. In fact I would like to know the best way to completely strip it down to use only for my DAW. any ideas?
