So... got a new tune... I need some feedback on this mix... Is this solid or does it need some improvements?

As always thanks guys! And hope everyone is having a Merry Christmas!

Too much of the center panned synth (does it really need to be dead center?), not enough low end. There is plenty of kick but not much else going on down low. Your lead synth is overbearing and crowding out the stuff in the background.

I would like to hear Møre melodies, but I am not sure IF this style needs them. There is some development which is a good thing. The mix is like the earlier commenter said a bit unbalanced. The lead takes too much of of the attention. But like I said i am not familiar with this style. There is a solid beat which is good. Happy Holidays!

New version...

@Robus: Panned some elements. Turned down the main synth. Added a bass instrument. Other minor changes (EQ/Comp)

EDIT: I didn't limit the master bus as much as the last time... but I think I might go back and do that.

EDIT 2: Yeah... it needs the limiting like before for glue... I'll repost in a sec with what I think is the final version at least for a while...

FINAL EDIT: Okay the soundcloud above is current.

I added a new melody in after the break/build up halfway through the song... Let me know whatcha think.

It is better, but IMHO the main synth is still a bit too loud compared to the new melody which I heard. And a new idea , why not let the main synth like have a rest for a short time while the new melody starts and after it ends then let the main synth voice continue? Perhaps try that as it might improve your already very good track.

I'll play with turning down the main synth. I may need to automate it's volume or compression because when I turn it down it sometimes gets drowned out in the really busy parts. Also, I like your idea about dropping the main synth and then bringing it back. Are you thinking like after the break in the middle of the song? Like it would drop out at 2:15... I wouldn't even fade it out, I would just drop it completely right when the percussion comes back in full. and then I'm debating either at 2:30 or 2:45 to bring it back in. Thoughts?

Thanks man!

New version: Main synth is still a bit loud for me. Part of the problem is that I'm just not liking that synth sound. It's kind of dated and reminds me of about a dozen different patches on my early-2000s Korg Triton. Nothing wrong with retro sounds per se, but this one is just kind of ho-hum. The new elements add some interested but also some confusion. You might want to rethink which parts are the focus of attention and which are background elements in each part of the song.

You should probably just try what works and gives even more variation to your song.

A lot to think about and really good advice. I appreciate it man. I'm going to go back to the drawing board some. I know this song has potential with some work.
