Hello!

I am releasing a new track in the next couple of days. I wanted a heavy bass guitar track on it so it's quite prominent but on some speakers/headphones it seems a little muddy. Can I have anyone's opinion on whether it seems muddy or not, and if so, what should I do EQ-wise to change this? The bass guitar on its own seems less muddy so maybe low frequencies need dropping for the whole track, but how much do you usually go for? Quite new at this. Here is a snippet!

Thank you!

I think the bass is a little indistinct. One note kind of blurs into the next. To me the low end is too loud. I'm not sure what to do about the "indistinctness" except retrack.

Additionally, the mix is pretty guitar focused. They're covering everything else. they sounded real good though. Just too loud.

Nice guitar work!

The track doesn't seem muddy to me, but if you're worried it'll muck up, the best way to sniff out the offending frequencies is with a parametric EQ. Set the Low to cut completely or nearly so, and then tweak the Hz until the mud disappears. Another option is to run it thru a hi pass filter and then dial the Hz up and down until you lose the mud.

Thank you for your comments, I might have another listen when my ears and fresh and see how I feel. It isn't that bad to be honest!

Try removing some around 200-250Hz either in the bass or the guitars.

It might be my mind playing tricks on me, but I feel like the snare leans to the left side of the stereo field a little bit. Also, the vocals have a piercing quality somewhere in the upper mids. I would do a parametric EQ sweep somewhere between 3 and 4k to find it and notch it out.

That was all that really stood out to me. Sounds good otherwise man!
