I think of Ed Roman the same way I think about Ted Nugent. Some of what he says make a lot of sense, but a lot of it should be taken with a grain of salt too.

BTW g-man, grachus was talking about a simi hollow body guitar and I don't think that the companys you brought up make one.

I don't know how people can make such generalised statements about guitars.
I own seven guitars.....all of them cheapies.I've played quite a few guitars in my day and can honestly say I don't feel bad about not owning an expensive guitar.
In fact I have two Danelectro's,flame me,laugh...but I've seen Danelectro's in quite a few studio's collections.
I also have two Epiphones and would'nt hesitate to buy another one.
Congatulations Grachus and rock on,don't let some guitar snob put you down.As long as you're having fun you've got to be doing something right!

BTW I can afford an expensive guitar or two but I just have'nt ran into the one that makes me want to pull the trigger.

Yeah, congrats Grachus. I have an epi LP and I love it. There are naysayers in every group. That guitar will play and sound good for years to come.

Austin makes an okay ES-335 copy if you want one cheap. By cheap I mean $600 cheap. Depends on who is selling it though. might be less. Yeah, I don't think Jay makes ES-335 copies, and I KNOW Dean doesn't.

Gotta join in this one, I'm sitting here with an EPI acoustic copy of as gibson, it is great to play but I have filed and dressed the frets and set the neck, in fact the frets are so great I tried to get some from the importer to put on one of my Fender Strats, the fuckwit wouldent sell them, I haven't heard it against the Gibson equivalent, but I guess the Gibson would have better wood and sound more mellow, this is quite trebly, but in playability it rocks. What makes a guitar good to play is the amount of time and skill spent in final set up, if you do a good job on the neck you gotta get the results. The acoustic under saddle pickup was shit, but in electronics you gets what you pays.
With a decent set up and good pickups in theory a Squire should play and sound as good as the original(woods excepted), but I picked this Korean copy over a Canadian guitar( I can't remember the name) but when I got it knew I would be working on it so it dont matter a bugger in that case.

G-man...

Just letting you know that it is Jay Turser not Turner, and their guitars are crap! I HAVE played every style of guitar they make at a local dealer, and I wouldn't give 'em five bucks for one.

And don't say it was just a spelling error you did it twice and s and n are on opposite sides of the keyboard.

Have a nice day.

I've had two nylon string epiphones. (one of them got broke in an argument.) Both of them were actually really good sounding. 200 bucks! I've also owned a Taylor, which was a great guitar. I wouldn't put the epiphone down though. There's nothing wrong with it for what it is.

Jeez. What's the big deal? I'm sure Jay wouldn't throw a hissy fit if I mis-spelled his last name.

I would tell you Epiphone is crap, and you couldn't discredit that because it's just an opinion. So, I won't even bother trying with yours.

If you had bad mouthed Dean, I would have e-slapped you.

Guys...guys!......these things are all just a matter of personal opinion and taste. If you like it....then for you it's great. The fit and finish of some guitars are better than others but ultimately it's all what you do with it. Clapton could play a piece of shit and make all of us look silly no matter what we played. And I still say that there's no reason to be insulting to someone's new guitar even if you don't care for it yourself. It's one thing if he hasn't bought one yet and is looking for advice...it's something else when he's already bought it and is saying how happy he is with it. There is such a thing as coutesy.

i cant hear you my amps too loud now ....ha

dudes a most excellent debate. i love this guitar really and it was a great buy on top of that. heh listen i am a old folky who has a long history of playing in coffee houses and folk events( kitchen parties!!) and the rock n roll world is new for me. i always dabbled but never seriously and i am not now a serious rocker. i get the occassional jam so there is no way im going to buy a prs or a guild gretch or fender strat american57 whatever. i love to improvise the blues on the weekend at a jam and i love to play rythm guitar in the band but im no srv. i would love to play the guitar as great as johnny winter or as sweet as any great jazz dude or even as smooth as john hiatt but i get by with what i can when i get the chance.
consider the guitars ive had a old no name unplayable, a hagstrum copy cool untunable, a squire tele- tough and fun but not very versitile and now the fine epi335dot. i will leave the big budjet guitars for you all who dont have kids and a mortgage and who play more then once a month. remember some guys need a hammer some guys need a lee valley hammer with a case and polish. its atool to make noise with.
rockon

oh ya im using a fender112 delux right now but im trading it and my squire in for a blues jr all tube amp. need the tube sound. or did i just open another worm there???

Hey grachus, sounds like you're having a lot of fun with that new axe. I have an Epi Dot too and for certain things it sounds great.
