Hey guys
So I've been playing guitar a few years now and would like to try my hand at a little recording. I'm not expecting studio quality, as I don't even really know what I'm doing yet. I figured I would start small and basic. I bought a Line 6 POD 2.0 on craigslist for $25 last week. I think I need on of these tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5586744&CatId=4491 and a 1/4" to RCA cable to get the sound into my computer. I have a full version of REAPER for a DAW. I also have EZDrummer to do a little drum tracking. I will probably start with just guitar and play over backing tracks to get the hang of it. Audacity may even work better for that. I guess my first question is how is this as a primitive recording set up, and do you think it is a good starting point? Also, would it be beneficial for me to get a basic MIDI keyboard and an 8 track mixer to bring it all together, or should I wait until I get the basics of this set up down before I go that far (basically a set up like the diagram half way down this page tweakheadz.com/setting_up_your_audio.htm). For the record I have a pair of KRK Rokit 5 monitors and a custom built PC (quad-core processor @ 3.8 GHz, 4 Gb ram, etc.).
PS. Sorry about the websites listed, I'm too new to the site to post URLs
Thanks in advance,
