Any suggestions on this mix? What's wrong with it? What's right with it?

I'm past the point of no return with video taping my recordings. If the video is too distracting, lemme know and I'll post the mp3. Thanks!

In my opinion, the lead vocals need some of the high top end taking down a chunk. I quite like the effect you've got on them though. And the backing vocals eq sounds fine to me too.
I may well be wrong, but I would tentatively suggest that you're mixing with your monitors turned up too loud. I think the low end is lacking and the high end is too strong as a result.

Drop your headphones/speakers right down every once in a while to check your low-end definition is good and you can still hear it.

The guitar I think sounds fine with the extra top end, but it needs to balance against the low end from the drums and bass.

I agree with cobaltaudio... the vocal is very esssy... but otherwise I like the top end (I listen loud).

Nice catchy song done well.

Agree that there's a lot of hiss going on. I think a lot of it is the drums too. I think the ride/cymbals can come down a little bit and bring the snare up a bit. It sounds like a thud right now. I'm not familiar with the original, but as far as the vocal effect is concerned I think it would be cool to remove the effect during the chorus. Cool cover though. I like it.

Yeah, good fun cover. Performance is good, but the EQ needs a bit of tweaking I reckon. As mentioned above, the high end on the ride/cymbals could do with taming and if you can get some of the hiss and top end generally out of the vocals which is most evident before the drums come in it will sound much better.

Awesome input! THANK YOU!

Monitoring/mixing is a constant struggle for me. I'll definitely try it at a lower volume next time. I do tend to crank it up when I'm mixing.

Ah yes, I thought so!
