Okay:

I just ditched my Tascam US-428 and have installed an Echo Mia Midi card in my Dell (runninf Sonar 3.0) which has two 1/4' outs. These need to go to my Hafler amp, which powers my monitors. Where do I plug in my headphones? If I plug them into the Hafler, which is fine playing back, but not so much when I want to track.

What do I do?

Do I use a Y 1/4" males (out of the sound card) to a stereo female. Then I could plug headphones in when I want to track. When I wanted to playback or mix I could unplug the headphones and plug in the monitors (which I could plug in via a similar Y cable coming from the HAfler amp?

Is this my only option? Do I need a mixer? I'd rather not have one; I am trying to simplify my setup.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Mia Midi Monitoring

Sorry I don't have an answer -- I just bought the MIA MIDI and am wondering the same thing?

I'll follow this thread and hope somebody has a bright idea, since there's no headphone out on the card.

Well it worked out fine. I bought a Y cable adapter -- 2 1/4" males to one 1/4" female. Headphones worked fine for tracking. I use some AKGs for that.

When I want to mix, I unplug the headphones and plug in my monitors, which I have running through a Hafler power amp. I have a similar Y cable running out of the Hafler, but it is the opposite Y -- two female 1/4" to one 1/4" male. When I am ready to playback and mix, I just plug that into the Y coming out of the sound card.

Hope this helps you; by the way, I am quite impressed by the quality sound I am getting from the Echo Mia Midi.
