I bought a got a new (ebay $200) computer firstly to upgrade on a 450mhz 128 ram pentinum pII about 6 years old. I am getting into recording and have been entertaining the idea of digital recording. What are some nice soundcards that would work well with this system (May need more ram, but thats ok)
I am looking to record roots music in the vein of old time country and blues. With harmonica, vocals, banjo and guitar. thanks for reading

Just about any soundcard you buy will work on that computer. It all depends on how much you want to spend. If you are just starting out I highly suggest using your stock soundcard for a while until you learn the ropes and decide more specifically what you need. I have been recording for 7 years and did the first 5 with a stock soundcard, with good results. Yours should be full duplex and at least 16 bit. Good luck.

Excellent advice - sounds like you may be on a budget so use the stock sound card and invest in other things like a mic's to capture that raw roots music sound you'll be looking for!
