New Challenge Idea

I haven't really thought this through, but dtb just asked in his thread what the next challenge was. Well, we don't have one.

So I was thinking maybe we could pull together a list of participants, regardless of style, and randomly draw names to match two people for a collaboration. This would, IMO, be great for breaking us out of routines.
 
hey Tom, I'm back.. much much catching up to do... I have 18 songs to reply to.. Just figured I'd stop in and derail the thread..

Didn't we say at one point we'd only run one every couple of months?

Whatever. That could be fun. Or a nightmare, depending on the pairings.

BTW, Sluice, I was kinda disappointed you and WATYF didn't review my HRC post. You guys - get me all worked up, I put on my best dress, then I'm left sitting waiting by the phone.

Fortunately there are these bon-bons to keep my company while I sit AROUND the house... sniff...:p

I thought the last challenge was to be naked while you were recording. But if you want to make the next challenge to wear a dress while you're recording, fine........ I vote for tu tus.

I'm up for it. But I get so little time to work on music, whoever gets paired with me is going to have to be willing to wait (and wait and wait).

Of course whoever gets paired with me would probably rather just leave the board than have to work with me anyway. So it probably doesn't matter. :)

Well at least I have a good excuse....


I just got married. :p


I haven't had time to record my own HRC yet, let alone review everyone else's. :p And dang... there were a friggin' million of 'em on the front page at one point. :p

I'll try to hit yours, if I can find it. :p (in between takes of recording my own, that is. :p)



As for the new challenge... sheesh... let me take a breath before you go posting a new one... :cool:


It's definitely an interesting idea, though...

Dafduc, dude I'm sorry. I swear that wasn't intentional, and I'll definitely give it a listen. Sometimes I think I get in way over my head with this board. :) But it keeps me in music, and I'll be happy to listen to yours.

As for this idea, I'm just putting the idea out there, it's not a formal challenge. I too am pretty busy with the real world, so if someone wants to pick the idea up and go with it, have at it.

Twist, I just went and recorded it naked while naked. Just to cover my ass, so to speak. :)

lol...man, you and I should "pair up" now in an attempt to break some kind of world record for MOST VOCAL PARTS EVER RECORDED BY 2 PEOPLE, BY TWO PEOPLE EVER.

You triple track yours, I'll double track mine, you do some octaves, I'll handle the 5ths, we'll split the 7ths, and everything else that happens we'll just call an "inverted 9th."

OOhh.. and with our bass problems, we might just tackle the old "HARSHEST MIX EVER" award too!! :D

I'll bring my plugins.

I dig the idea...

...in a few months, once we've "recovered" from this challenge, I'd say we should bring it up again as a formal challenge. Usually these challenge things work if they're spontaneously "thrown" into the clinic... the last challenge was much more "planned out" and we barely got any responses for it (heck.. I still haven't submitted my cover. :p)

Seriously, I think it's a great idea, but I agree we should let the current challenge run it's course first. Hell, there are still people posting fer chrissakes. Besides Sammy is typing like a madman trying to get caught up! I also had another idea for a challenge, but I'm not even gonna bring it up at this point. Besides, I'll need a little time to go shopping for that new dress.

Ya, sorry boys. I didn't mean to imply that we should start one now. I was just putting that idea out while I was thinking of it. Believe me, I'll forget all about it unless someone else picks it up down the road.
