I just bought a domain and hosting. So I made a website...It still looks kinda bland I'm offering as much as possible but I feel it could use more. Any Input on the website or the music for that matter? Here's the site

http://www.blueminute.net

thanks-Thor

Intro page looks really good, I like the graphic/colors.

The actual website does look kind of bland. I think it needs some pictures.

The layout is simple though and easy to navigate through and find stuff. It's not cluttered like a lot of band pages. I think you're off to a good start.

I think what you need most right now is more content, at least on the front page. A couple "blog"/latest news entries on the front page maybe. And maybe a couple photos from the images section on there that link to the _images part.

In the _images section I might have a few images above each link. Like a few small thumbnails so they can see what kind of pictures are in each section. But that's just an idea.

Good Idea for the Images section...I'll have to work on that.

i'll agree with the comment about the intro page.. but the acutal website needs alot of work. don't change the layout... it's good. but for the nav bar it might benifit you to use a different font and make the links bigger.. I'm not a big fan of the boxed in links.. it looks to constricted. Also the bird graphics in the back of the nav bar are distracting to be kind.. they should not be behind the links like that.. you likely wanted it there to add some "life" the nav bar.. I think if you picked a better font it would do a better job of this.. maybe the font you chose for the "enter here" at the start.. it would add unity to the site. Start with those changes and it'll make a huge difference (i'm not going to pick apart every aspect of your site.. one thing at a time right?)

good luck

Yeah, my lack of HTML/Website skills is kinda discouraging. I really want to brighten this up but can't really provide the skills to do it. Maybe I'll make the menu buttons images with that font.

I'll update a little and let you guys know...thanks for the input

yes that definately could work.. I usually use images for my buttons.. just make sure you don't use images everywhere because then it's harder for search engines to find your site..

Not too bad, I suppose. What's your target audience? How large is your fan base? How often do you play shows? In town? Out of town?

Check out other band sites. Maybe you'll get some ideas. Work on your graphic layout as well.

I've been doing web design a long time and all those questions are pretty important and would dictate how "professional" you might want your website to appear. Of course, there's the matter of if you care about how "pro" it looks or not. Some don't care and just want a place to post stuff. That's fine, too.

Well I indubitably want to represent the band in a positive way. I'd like to make the whole thing flash and I know nothing about that so I might have someone do the site.

  • I would say target audience is Early 20's to early 40's age bracket.
  • Fan base is small right now, I think once we get playing out more it will increase and this site will give them a bit of material about us.
  • Shows are few and far between unfortunately. We have conflicting schedules but we are always trying to work them out.

  • Our shows are usually in town or within a 70mile radius

please please PLEASE DO NOT DO AN ALL FLASH SITE that's one of my biggest pet peeve's on the internet.. See the problem is not everyone has the fastest running computer.. or the fastest internet connection... what will look great to you will take forever to load for someone else.. causing them to get frustrated and likely not even look at your site.. I know flash sites are cool and trendy and there's lots of neat ideas you can throw at it but it's not really a practical medium.. if you absolutely MUST have a flash site make sure you make an html alternative..

like on your intro page have "enter flash site" "enter html site" that way you can do all the fun stuff you want to do in flash and people that know they can run it can check it out.. but for all the others they have an alternative to the flash site.. do it up like that and there's nothing wrong with it :)

Good Idea...

I would hire someone to do that though...maybe I'll just stick with HTML site for now.

I would offer my services if you needed help on the html site.... but my flash skills are still under development ;)

Considering what you just told me, your best bet is to just stick with doing it yourself. Once your popularity increases and you start playing more, then go with a pro. Check my website out. I do web design and I'll throw my hat in for consideration.
