Hello :) I have been playing guitar forever and jotting down songs and stuff, but i haven't recorded anything ever. I dont know where to start, what to get or anything. I have a Mac computer, so i have garage band. I got a logitech webcam but that is the only type of microphone i have right now. I was looking at the Blue Yenti usb mic but i dont know if i should get it or not.
please help!! i dont know where to start!

thanks!! :D

Don't get a USB mic. Get an interface with hardware monitoring and use regular mics with XLR connectors.

You play guitar? Great! Go grab yourself a 1/4 to 1/8 inch cable at Radio Shack and plug straight into the line input (microphone jack) on your computer. Record vocals or even guitar amps with the internal microphone. Use GarageBand and play with this setup for a couple weeks to get a feel for what recording really is. Once you think you know what you're doing you might want to invest in some quality gear. You can come back to these forums for advice on that.

I always think it's good to tell beginners to do a recording "test drive" before they go out and spend a bunch of money on equipment they might never use. Good luck man. I hope you enjoy recording as much as we all do.
