So, after almost a year in school, i dusted off the old equipment and recorded another song.

It sounds good to me and my friends, just seeing if a long-time newbie could get some criticism and point out some things I may not have noticed. I think the biggest problem is the vocals, and it's probly because i'm using an AKG-C1000 and a Carvin 16-channel mixer for preamp. any other suggestions on how to make the vocals a little clearer would be cool.

thank you all so much!

Nice song, but there were some real big volume fluctuations throughout....and I thought I heard some drum sounds, but they didn't help the tune, too hissy in places and too indistinct in others....good drum sound could add a lot......bass was kinda muddy.....now keep in mind, this is just what I am hearing...you gotta ask yourself, honestly, what are YOU hearing......

to me, maybe some verb on the vocal, but I liked the way you sang....... but again, with the volume fluctuations, yer voice clipped bigtime fairly often.....could be a matter of voice control, combined with how hot the mic is being recorded...too hot equals clipping...not hot enough equals having to raise your voice to get a signal in the first place.....there's a happy medium in there somewhere, experiment...........again, nice song and I enjoyed your voice when it wasn't clipping.........I'm no pro, just a pair of ears........gibs

actually it ain't me singing, it's my friend, and the drums are an "analog kit" off a keyboard...i wanted the "drum machine" sound or something.
but in any case, thanks for the reply! especially bout the bass.
PS if you liked that song check out the band's web page: http://makoreactor.8m.com

Hmm. I'm going to have to say "me too"... except... once in a while, that hiss (like around 2:45) that hiss actually sounded cool.... but not as often as it is in there :)

What the heck is that anyways?

It's the "open cymbal" of a MIDI "analog kit." not sure what kinda keyboard it is.
