not knowing the original ... it does have some kind of oldy vibe to it... but what do I know... :)

One thing I didn't catch is if you are trying to make accoustic sound natural ... WHY are you plugging it in ?????

it seems like you know what you want as far as the levels in the mix and you got some good comments ... so I'll just I liked it and mic that "axe" ....

I havent used the POD on bass. I either go direct through my envoice or art or use the J station which has some nice bass amps. I assume you dont have an RNC. Any of the oft discussed soft comps work well on bass. Waves RCL, waves C1, ultrafunk's comp, and some others. Do a search. Of those ultrafunk's is the cheapest and available on its own for $50. In general, I wouldnt worry about overcompressing the bass.

All exciited!!

I went back into the studio this morning to try some of changes you all recomended:

!. I upped the vocals about 4db.

2. I ended up using the bass control on the guitar itself to warm it up. Still way below the flat setting, but really made it sound better. This also gave the guitar a higher apparent output, and better signal to noise. This really makes a difference when using the Pod on dead clean. Big drop in noise, maybe 3db!

3.I tried using the compressor on the Pod for my bass, I turned the tweek knob to where it just kicked in. Oh my god what a difference on the recording. I don't know the setting, I'll have to look it up.

I will rerecord the song and let you know when it's at nowhere.

Man, I owe you guys big time for this one, The difference your suggestions made was just amazing!! I feel like I can now get a good acoustic song on tape (media card).

Hope I'm not wearing out my welcome, but I'm stoked!!

THANKS AGAIN!!!

Can't Wait To Hear It...

Enthusiasm rocks...let us know when it's ready.

GT,
Nice song,all the way around!
James Talyor has nothing on you dude.

Fun having a new toy huh!

Your voice sounds really good.
The guitar sounded good to me,but almost like an electric.

I like the writing, very thoughtful words.

Really enjoyed it!

Best to you,
Pete

chrisharras, and museman,

New guitar seems to mean lots of work trying to get a tone you like.

Glad I only get one once every twenty five years, or so.

Overall, I think this acoustic is going to get a lot of use, I seem to be able to get a pretty decent sound direct in, and that's what I was wanting.

I never liked micing my acoustic, it just seemed to be an incredible pain, and I could never get a sound to tape that I really liked. Acoustics are strange animals, aren't they?

Also I like to sing and play at the same time, which is how I recorded Secret O Life, there seems to be an interaction, that I don't get when I record acoustic guitar and voice seperately.

With acoustic direct in there's much less bleed.

Bottom line: I'm just too damn lazy to mic an acoustic!!

Nicely done, vox and guitar sound good, but vox needs to come up a bit. Drums are a little weak too. Perhaps you might give the bass guitar a little more bottom.

Good job!
