Here is a thread to vent all of your needs to critique music. Obviously I'd prefer intelligent comments but if you're feeling a mean streak comin' on let it out.

I don't want to hear any good words about this song in this thread if possible.

I want negative comments only on this live take - Panic J - Let You Down (First Cut)

Thanks

Ok bad words, this is the worst rubbish I`ve ever been a witness.
How can you live with yourself, after exposing the world to sutch torture :D

Now on a an other note; songs pretty original, got some beatles feel, than drasticly shifting to some groovy bowie baby, I like it.
You`re really talented man, I love listening to your stuff, great vox.
guitar is very Mick ronson.

all good mate :)

This song sucks because I am on a dialup and too impatient to wait to download it.

:D

oooookay then

Those whiney off key vocals make me want to shove an ice pick deep in my ear and dig around until I find the part of my brain that holds the memory of them. And once I find it I want to stab it over and over and over until the bad sounds are gone forever and ever.

The song itself does not piss me off, though. So I can't help you there. Sorry. :(

o.k,

Listening on my pc speakers the drums need to be up in the mix with more bottom end.

The guitars could do with some lows.
The vocalist sounds all wobbly!

There ya go nothing positive about that, but mildly intelligent constructive criticism.

This agonizing, arduous....awful peice has no right be. I am seriously thinking of suing you for grievous bodly harm to my ears. It comes accross as amateur, conceited, laborious and piercing. It saddens to think there people like you in the world making "music". Please please stop.

As a footnote i would say i was listening on crappy headphones at work.

Pretty awful for disco.....try again...

j/k This is a refreshing original tune. Good vocals and harmonies. Guitars are nice and raunchy. Drums are rockin'. Can't get too much bass on these PC speakers...

If it's that bad, maybe I shouldn't listen! ;)

I love the fact that someone else has taken to putting something intelligent on their SIG, as Audio once did!! :)

I'm Back

Thanks for all the negative comments.

Those of you don't have the stomach to tell it like it is, I could never see y'all as producers.

I guess it takes a special breed to not only hear it for what it really is but also be able to tell it like it is as well.

Don't confuse someone hiring you to be a button pushing recording service with producing... You always want to keep the checks rolling in, hence, you don't want to offend your clients.

My negative take on this song: Crappy vocals, sloppy in parts, low-quality mp3, unmastered, vocals & drums EQd wrong especially...

What I didn't get is why people had such a hard time being completely negative even when asked. Anyone?

My post just about mirrors your take on that recording, or didn't ya read my post?   :)

I read it...

Gorty:

I do admit it was pretty intelligent and to the point. I always hate the  tho...

Your music is a bit of a throwback to the guitar god days. I hear a lot of the restraint of age in your playing. If you're not a middle-aged player I'd wonder where that's coming from.

I'd like to hear you with Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce. A wicked jazz/rock fusion band would be what I need to hear backing up that Creamy blues-heavy style.

Have you written with any vocalists?

Alrighty, no positive words here, I'll leave those out...

ok overall the song sounds kind of muddy to me in places, not enough clarity between the instruments and vocals when things pick up.

even though it's original, at the fast pace it does start to sound repetitive after a while

Hey northsiderap,

I enjoyed reading your post, you're pretty well on the money there, I would love to play with players like Ginger and Jack, I know what you are saying! I am currently writing a few tunes with a vocalist's performance to be added!

The thing starts too abruptly but without emphasis. The bass needs definition - maybe use an enhancer or compressor - it's needs some punch - I don't mean scrunch it down just give it its own space.
Oh, sorry I quite liked it.
Cheers

Lead vocal is rather whiny, and it sounds like the singer is trying to sound like someone else.

Both vocal parts are slightly out of tune, especially the backup vocal.

I hate the kick drum sound. It's like hooking a kick pedal up to a cardboard box... except that I've done that. It sounds a little better... lol...

EEEEEWWW I just got to that loooong note "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" from the vocals. Please, please, please tune that.

Was the backup singer warbling a bit in there? That was weird. It sounded like he was gargling mouthwash.

The guitar tone is lacking, for lack of a better term, balls. I'm assuming that it's a Fender Strat... A Strat can get a good rocking tone, but it just takes dialing in a little more oomph.

The bass line seems solid, although not very articulate.

The song could really benefit from some dynamics. It just sounds really monotonous.

All in all, the song has some potential (listening to it reminds me of the show CSI for some reason), but this presentation is just rather bland and boring. I assume it's better live.
