Alright guys.....Im totally new at this, havent even started yet and I dont know even if Im in the right place to ask these questions. But here goes. Im in my 2 year at university and I have this module where we work with music(software such as Reason,Cubase,Etc) this has sparked an interest for me and Id like to see if I can manage a mini setup so that I can record music using my pc. Im into Hip-Hop(spanish), so basically what Im asking is what essencialls do I need to record my own songs, and get some quality? What Microphones would be could to record my voice, any software?hardware? and so on. I know your all probably fed up of answering stupid questions......but I need someone to give me the basics, thanks for your time and help, adios.

Hey ... I know you said mini setup but whats your budget ? ... theres alot of product out there.

Well.....Dont have a fixed budget, but as cheap as possible....just the essencials. What Protools?there are many. thanks for the help guys......and keep it coming, cheers.

Here's my advice....

Oh wait... you asked for someone who knew what they were doing....

I think the best thing for your Hip Hop is a programme which is best for Loops, I dont really use it myself, but the programme "Fruity Loops" is supposed to be a decent piece of software, this would be good for the music your playing. If you already have the Pc then after that, all you have to focus on is Microphone and a small synth if you want to play some MIDI in yourself.

Good luck!

Peace

Well, first of all thanks guys, and I know that it takes lots of time and effort to setup up everything. But Im only going for the very essencials, someything that will allow me to record a track and my voice. Someone said something about a microphone.....can anyone specify which microphone would be good for my case, Im not looking for anything special, just something ideal for recording on my pc and getting ok quality
cheers again guys, on other forums people just ignored or insulted just for the fact that I was new to all this, but we all have to start somewhere, right?thanks.

By someone who knew what they were doing I meant thay I dont know much, so i need advice from people who do.sorry if i didnt express myself properly.

Oh and how does Carter know my IP and all that??????????
There is a program out there that will allow that. He can't see it, if he looks at that sign, it's showing him his IP. It's only a gag, but it's good to know what information your pc is putting out on the internet. ;)

Mikes

Hey guys, been looking around for microphones...here are some examples that Ive seen on Amazon:
Hama DM20 Dynamic Microphone; Electronics ~ Hama
Hama DM40 Dynamic Microphone; Electronics ~ Hama
Philips SBCMD650 Vocal Microphone; Electronics ~ Philips
Sony FV-120 Uni-Directional Hand Held Microphone; Electronics ~ Sony
Hama DM65 Dynamic Microphone; Electronics ~ Hama

Are they any good? Im i in the right direction, looking for a simple mike that will allow me to record with ok quality. And will i be able to plug these into my pc, or should i be looking for ones with usb connections(dont think so?)
Thanks.Jose.

You need to tell us how much money you can spend....

You need for example...

a computer

extra RAM

an extra hard drive

Acid Pro 5

Fruity Loops XXL

Sound Forge 7

Battery 2

an Akai MPD 16 midi pad

a M-Audio key controller

a sound card

a Shure sm57 mic

Alesis M1 actives mkII monitors

samples from PROSAMPLES

maybe an extra video monitor

That is just a few things that you could possibly use (that is why we are asking you what is your budget).

There are a myriad of directions that we can steer you. That is why you must let us know your budget. ;)

Thanks for clearing that up www.danasoft.com is the address

Africano,

You must be completely transparent in your expectations and budget. I think you have done a fair job with your expectations, but your budget is totally unknown. Give us something to work with here!
