Im sure this has been asked , but does any one make new quarter inch tape or half inch, etc.? My local place no longer sells it and I cant find any local outfits...

Im sure someone still sells new tape with reels...sure hope so anyway...

thanks...

I've found old stock but unused reel-to-reel tapes on E-Bay. I think Radio Shack may still make some.

Radio shack doesnt make any tape and even if they still did you wouldnt want any of it.

You can purchase brand new RMG rtr tape online from Full Compass Systems.

You might want to try http://www.atrtape.com/ I use their tape exclusively and love it. I have tried RMG and had lots of problems with it. ATR is a bit more expensive but atleast it's made in the US and IMO it's far better then RMG
ATR is $55.00 per reel or $30.00 per pancake for 1/4 and 1/2 is $89.00 per reel but if you call and talk to Betty you can ask her to sell you the 1/2 pancakes. If I remember the price was $68.00 per pancake
Since they have little call for 1/2 pancakes they are somewhat reluctant to send just the pancakes but mine arrived packed like it was going to be dropped out of a plane to my doorstep. I have no problems with them. Good luck.

ATR Magnetics and RMGI have been mentioned. In addition, Zonal is again selling 1/4" tape reels, at least in the EU. I'm not sure if any of the sellers are exporting to the US and I'm not even sure they are selling new tape at present or just NOS, but I think that if they are not in production, they are planning to be. Anyway, it's strictly 1/4" at present. If you can get your hands on it, it is perfectly good tape and should be cheaper that the ATR stuff, at least.

For most HR types, I would think that the ATR tape is probably a waste, since it is a thicker and higher output tape that most narrow track machines can't fully exploit.

Cheers,

Otto

ATR is based out of Pennsylvania and RMG is from the Netherlands.

Being from Ohio, isn't that reason enough to use RMG? I mean, should we be supporting the home of the Nittany Lions? ;)
