I am working on a tascam 424mkIII, recording a drum machine, guitars, bass, and vocals, and am wondering hgow and what type of mixer I should get to help me. When I bought the 4 tracks, I didnt know I would need a mixer, and maybe I dont, but it seems like I do. I need help, and anybody who has any sugestions would be a really big help if they could tell me what kind of mixer somebody who is doing home recording of a max of 6 instruments should use, and what exactly I would need it for, and wheteher I should use it before going into my recorder, or after. I am an idiot, as you can see.

LonelyBeat, To Answer your question I can only give you a broad answer due to the fact I'm not sure what all your applications are as far as the four track....Do you Plan to use effects?.....Do you only use a vocal mic or are there more mic's than one?....do you plan to expand later on?....and finally What price range are you working with?....I can offer a few low budget mixer's 1) Behringer's MX1604A Compact which sells for around $150 or if you choose not to run a processor you can get away for now with a Behringer MXB1002 it sells for around $130 these are only for mixing what you have now as far as vocals drum machine bass and guitar these would be a perfect thing to have as a scratch pad studio so to speak and I have used both of these I have listed above and I still have my MXB1002 I hope this will help
