Hey Guys,

First of all i would like to introduce myself. My name is Ralph and i'm a music junkie!! lol.

I need you percussion guys to give me some feedback on my recording. This is a Latin Puerto Rican style salsa song. No vocals, and everything done via Midi. That's right! A Korg Triton. I haven't mixed down the song because i'm not done, so it may sound really crappy. I just need some percussion guys to give me some hints on making it sound better. It's a zip file with a mp3 attached.

Thanks peeps!

Ralph

First of all, post your song at the mp3 mixing clininc. Second, try posting the mp3 and not the ZIP-file. Me, I'm to lazy to first download your song, then unpack it and then listen to it. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

You know what, nevermind.

First of all, i only wanted some feedback on the percussion to follow up with some more questions.

Second, It was only a small zip file with a almost a 30 second track. So, i don't know how lazy someone has to be just to click on a link and unzip the file.

thanks anyways!

In the clinic, standard protocol is to post a link to one mp3 or wma file. Or anything that a person can stream. That way they don't have to download and take up space on the hard drive if they don't want to. A lot of people in the clinic listen to a lot of music and just do it that way. Try it. I bet you get more listens.

I'm downloading your zip right now. I'll be back with comments.

:( i'm back 404 - file not found.

Sorry if I was being rude or something, I don't know what I was doing at this board at 8 o'clock in the morning.

Anyway, I took a listen to your song and I bet the arrengement would work great in a live salsa band! What would really help the song is some lyrics and a singer.

About the percussion, I myself play the trumpet in a local salsa band and I think there is one crucial peace of percussion that is missing and that is the clave (I don't know if this is the right name of it in english). If you don't know, it's a rythm that is usually played on two small wood-sticks. This rythm is really important! To bad I you can't hear me singing along with your song.

Oh, wait. This was Puerto-rican latin salsa. I only have experience with cuban salsa, maybe puerto-rican style is different, but I really think this clave (?)- rythm would help. Otherwise it's fine! Nice work!

Ralph, Get you an account at www.nowhereradio.com and post your songs there. It's a whole lot easy to upload them and it's alot easyer to play them. e-mail this guy (the owner) waldo@nowhereradio.com To get info on how to set up your account and start uploading songs. And i do agree with the other guys that you should post your file in the mp3 clinic, but you said "Percussion guy's input" so if i wanted a "Percussion guy's input", i would post my song here too. :)
