I have a Tascam us-144, a little presonus bluetube and an audix I-5 mike.

For lack of a better program in my price range I downloaded audacity...for free.

So, anyway. I just want to lay down a vocal track and a guitar track and few melodica tracks. The problem is, im getting little to no input from my microphone, i have everything plugged in, turned on. If i make a really LOUD noise, i get a little bit of sound to register. Im almost positive everything is in working order. Ive turned on and off my phantom power, it doesnt seem to do anything.

Theres probably just something that i forgot to do, but i have no idea what.

So anyway, help would be appreciated greatly. Thanks

How do you have the Presonus connected to the Tascam (e.g. 1/4" line out to 1/4" line in)?

When you say you get a little sound to register, where are you monitoring the input (software meters, monitors... etc)?

You could try running the mic straight into the Tascam and see if the results are different. If things improve, you have a problem between the Presonus and the Tascam. If not, the problem is probably somewhere between the mic/Tascam/computer (e.g. bad cable, bad connections, software setup issue).

Since the Audix is a dynamic mic the pantom power won't have any effect.

Thanks for your help. Actually I found out that my computer has this strange sound monitering program and it had the microphone set to a "karaoke" setting. It doesnt make any sense, but I turned it off and now I can hear it clearly.

Sorry for bothering you, Peace.
