Need some avice on a computer purchase

I am running Sonar 6 Proucer Edition with Waves Platinum bundle. I am soon purchasing a computer soley for recording and was planning on going 64 bit although somebody advsed me against that. What computers are you guys using and getting good results and is there any that I should avoid. Please, please any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and take care, Chris.:confused:
 
Hey Chris, I'm running an Intel Q9450 on an Intel dx48bt2 motherboard with 4 gigs of Corsair DDR3 RAM. In Pro Tools, that system is just crazy-powerful. I don't even have to think about processing power when I'm loading plugins. I don't see the same performance in Nuendo 3 as I do in Pro Tools 7.4 though, although it's still pretty good. I built the system myself and am running Windows XP SP2. I've had a few bugs at first but am slowly working them out.
