Ok, here's the situation.

I'm trying to record songs I have written accompanied by my acoustic guitar playing. I'm using a mixer plugged in to my line in jack along with cool edit 1.2. I'm pretty happy with the quality of the recording. Here is the issue I have. If I record the song in parts, verses and choruses, instrument part and then vocal part, I have a hard time getting the verses and chorus to sound like they go together seemlessly. I also have a hard time making sure the vocal and the instrumental match up. If I record all the instrumental all they way through I sturggle because I always have some string buzz or something somewhere that ticks me off. Can I get rid of the string buzz? How do you guys go about recording your stuff? I really appreciate the help!

I would record it all the way through and then go back and puchin the bad parts. Start playing a few bars before the puch in starts and a few beats after it starts. The easy way to do vocals is to do your puchins in the breaks. You may have to sing an extra line but it makes it easyer.

That's 'Punch In." If you record a metronome or some type of beat first it will make it easier to keep the whole song in time.

Thanks

I'll give that a try. I'm just starting out so I haven't used the punch in feature yet. It should be interesting to see if I can make it fit seemlessly. Any advice (besides on how to spell seemlessly).
