Hey guys, I have a few Mp3's on my site that need critiqing. Just acoustic guitar and vocal stuff. Chain used Presonus pre / Lynx One Converters. I have a problem getting the vocals to sit right, and I "suck" at recording acoustic guitar,, maybe if I had a "real" guitar .. but oh well you can find them here www.danceswithpenguins.com

Hey werewolf!
"optimistic"
Sounds cool. Mixing wise I think the guitar needs more presence and the voice could use some slight equalizer work. Just a thought... try raising different frequencies on the vocals and find which one improves it best. Then take that same frequency, drop it on the guitar, then raise the guitar volume a bunch. That should help blend it. You could also try double tracking the guitar and panning it around for more depth.
Also, you get some low rumble sounds on certain words you could EQ out or find a plugin in for.
Alrighty, that's all the advice I have. Cool song ;)

Listened to "birds and bullets" too
this song had more of the guitar presence and blending I was talking about above, sounds good. Sounsd like maybe a slight cut in the 250-400 midrange on the guitar could help the sound a bit.
Solo at the end sounds great!

wow, Thanks man.. I did what you said about finding the freq. and droping it and raising the guitar ,, and it worked really well.. Thanks:)

Be careful of your intonation & the recording of your breathing.
You have a very Jonathon Richman vibe going - as I have several of his LPs from Modern Lovers through to neighbourhood you can take that as a compliment.
Snakedog is pretty much on the ball.
If you can get hold of the 1st Modern Lovers album listen to hospital or Girlfren.
Cheers
