Is there a device similar to the pod XT or boss gt-8 that you can play guitar and bass through or do I have to buy sepearte boxes for each instrument?

The Behringer Bass V-Amp Pro is made for both bass and guitar. But not both at the same time.

Try the POD XT. I have played bass through mine and it sounded cool. I used the Blackface setting through a 4x10 cab sim. Compress it alittle and you will be surprized.
