ok i bought one of these and it didnt come with a manual i would like to know

what kind of tapes to use

how do you get it to record

how do you get it to play back

FOSTEX doc. Page - [HERE] ...on the bottom of the page ...there are some d-loadable pdf(s) of few x-series multitrackers. not your model, but you can get the idea on how to use yours by going through those manuals.

as for tape... while you are just figuring things out - use what ever cassette you've got. when you get to actually recording something, then get some fresh type-II/high bias cassettes. You can buy some cassettes with word "PRO" on it, if this would make you feel like you using the "pro"-tape ...and thus it's the best
