Need help with MIDI setup

I'm using a Kurzweil PC2x, Saffire Pro 40, and Cubase 5. I want to be able to record my keyboard's sounds onto cubase and export those files into mp3s. Here is how I have it set up:

- In from keyboard to out of interface and out from keyboard into in from interface
- Local control is off
- Cubase is at its default settings

When I record, MIDI data is registered, however when I play it back it comes out of the headphones I have plugged into the keyboard and nothing is played from Cubase. I'm very new to all of this, so any help is appreciated! Thanks

You need to record the audio from the synth via audio inputs, not midi

Or play the MIDI data with a VST instrument in Cubase.
