need help with dix soft synths

hi,
have sonar xl
audiophile 24/96
oxygen 8 midi controler usb.
this is the prob:
i have some tracks recorded
drums
guitar
bass
now i want to add a softsynth...the problem i have is when i arm the track and what to play the softsytn along to the other prerecorded tracks they are picked up in that track that is just for the softsynth. i dont have this problem when i want to record audio. just the softsynths.
anyone?

Make sure your softsynth is not on the same channel as your other tracks.

I'm not really certain of your setup...

Record the midi,then mute the unrelated tracks but not the synth,midi and target track.Arm the target track and record.
It sounds like you're recording the monitor mixer which is all the tracks that are playing.
