Need help. while recording VOX should I EQ a bit on way in? doing Nu-metal limp biskit linkin park etc but a unique style different, im gonna be cutting an album in a month and am wondering if I should EQ before hitting the compressor at all when recording vocals on way in? Im using rode ntk and a DISTRESSOR as my compressor.

Normally you'd EQ after you compress - one reason being you affect the compression everytime you change the eq if you do it the other way around. Why don't you record it clean and play around with it after though?

hmm

hmm would records like papa roach , britney spears linkin park be eq'd for vocals on way in or after you'd say?

The same old guidelines usually fit; If you are doing it to get exactly the way you want it on the way in, and you know what that is, fine. If the skill level is not up to that, and/or the environment is 'safer' at mix-down, than not.
