Need Help w/ MR-8 ASAP

I'm having a problem with the USB connection. I am fairly good when it comes to computers, but am having serious problems here. My OS is XP. I was able to update my mr-8 successfully, however, whenever I go to USB mode from now on, my computer will not recognize it. Everywhere I've looked, it says all this garbage about the removable drive and what not, when my own comp can't find the damn thing. I'm in the process of restarting my comp to see if it fixes the problem. If it ends up that it won't read it either way, Fostex is going to have one pissed off customer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since you say you have good knowledge of computers I don't know if I can help you or not. I will tell you how I am successful with the USB connection and I also have XP. Most of the time I just leave my MR-8 hooked up to my PC. When I go in USB mode on the MR-8 sometimes it takes XP a few minutes to recognize it. When it does a box pops up asking what I want to do. I always click "do nothing". One time I did have to go to control panel where it says "add hardware" and get it to search for new devices. It found the MR-8 and I haven't had to do that anymore. I have also had to go to "my computer" and click on the MR-8 I think it will say "toshiba" or something like that.
If I remember correctly, when I first got the MR-8 I put it in USB mode and then tried to connect it to my computer. It would not work this way. Hope this has helped.

Kdgospel, I appreciate your help. I feel so dumb because it was fairly something simple. You are right on many of the instances you had mentioned. The one thing I forgot to do was restart my computer. Such a small thing became a problem, but thankfully, problem solved. Thank you again for your comments.
