Performance and songwriting is very good. Tho I don't care much for the song itself..

I have a hard time commenting the mix, cause to me it this sounds like something that's been *badly* 'mastered'.. (Have to call it 'mastered' in case Bruce reads this..... ;) )

The whole song is very mono, very compressed and severely missing lows and highs..

This song would defintely kick some chrisharris-ass with a better mix, or master, or something.. :D

With all due respect Meshugganeh, enlighten me here. I need to know exactly what you are using to monitor/review this mix on. You state that the highs are "severly missing". God, I hope you are not listening to the "lo-fi" version! :D If you are listening to the hi-fi or downloaded version, you should check your equipment or consult a good audiologist, because I think you are not hearing what is really "out there". Of course, the very real possibility of bullshitting comes to mind, cause I can smell bullshit a mile away. A trait many of us former New Yorkers have developed into an art form. Dude, comment on my "enhancements" so we can all learn...great, fine, but criticizing without obvious basis on audio fact, and I am going to call you out on it. I hear a slide guitar at 11 o'clock, I hear a rythym guitar at 2 o'clock . I hear another at center soundstage. The drums could be spread out a bit and we lost some minimal bass on the way over to Nowhereradio somewhere. I have no idea what happened there. As for compression and a "severly missing" bass, again....I think you are probably overstating yourself and your observations in a profound manner, or the rare, conservative slant of this tune (in a very liberal music business) is making your "aural sensabilities" take a vacation, or your put on the blinders in a very disingenous way. I ain't no Ludwig, Lazar, Marino, Shryer etc, but these 46 year old ears KNOW when there is a BASIC balance in a piece of music. To quote Mr. Meek, "if it sounds right, it is right".....that is if you are in the same "room" as us all. Meshugannah, are you in the same "room" as us? Please......I am waiting for a response. All my best, ---Lee

ok. I listened through my philips-cans last night, but now I'm listening through M-Audio Audiophile 2496 - Mackie 1604vlz pro - Tannoy Reveal Active..

About the mono thing... ok.. 11 o'clock, and 2 o'clock.. sure, but that's about how wide it gets.. nothing inherently wrong with that, but there's quite a lot going on in this song..

ok, 'severely lacking highs and lows' might be a sloppy comment.. Let's just say there are muddy lows and low mids, and the mids and highs (those left after mp3-compression) are lifeless.. Add to this there's a LOT of noise going on. I don't know if the problem is tracking, mixing or 'enhancing', but seriously.. this sounds like a 56kbps mp3.

I don't mean to be a rude asshole. It's a good, well executed song, but the mix just doesn't cut it, and it's in the clinic for feedback, and these are my 2 cents.

M, appreciate you taking the extra effort to re-review this mix on a more honest audio venue. For the record, I did not refer to you as being a rude asshole, nor WERE you a rude asshole by any means. :D Thanks, dude. ---Lee

thanks for listening....the enhancement is about as good as possible considering what lee had to work with....the original mix was lacking in the bass department and alot of the noise you are hearing is amp hum on the slide guitar (which was kind of hot in the mix....the recut and remix will be alot better

Couldn't get "Son of Rebel Sons" to play :(

I like the other two though.
