"But i think that i will ask, a friend of myne, who ons a studio, to start letting me help him out in the studio, doing things, like sweeping, running arens, filling up the coffie pots and hopfuly, one day, help him run the board."

In the mean time you'll probably make less money than working at Wallmart. I don't know jack crap about the music industry and I'm sure Hard2Hears comments are dead on. But I don't think anyone here with their right mind would try to convince you NOT to go to college and get a degree.

Talk to your counselers at school. Talk to the local tech schools or colleges, is a grant or scholarship out of the question?

Just so you know, I called up 2 local studios here in Dallas and asked if the guys running the boards were college grads. They said their diplomas are hanging in the office if I wanted to come by and take a look.

Did you see the road Tukkis is taking? Wouldn't this be something you could/should do as well?

I'm pretty sure that i will go to a recording college, but i'm only 14 now. i have about 3 1/2 years before i can go. so, i was thinking of helping out in a friend's studio while i'm young. every little bit helps..........

Zeke,

first, hold on to that dream! Don't let anybody tell you it's ridiculous. That's a curse of getting old. Enjoy having big dreams.

second, if you really want to be a Recording Engineer, the best way to get good at it is to do it. Go get that unpaid internship. Do it now, not later.

third, if you want to be a studio owner, and not just an Engineer, get some business training. A college degree is almost mandatory for putting together a reputable business plan that a bank will take seriously. Not 100% necessary, but a really good thing to have.

fourth, DON'T, under any circumstances, get any big dreams about saving a few grand and starting a business on credit cards!!! If you have a dream, conviction, and a good business plan, there are MUCH better ways to get financing (and a lot more than $20-30k). You're still young; when you're ready to start a studio, read books on studios, and books on business plans, getting business loans/partners, etc.

fifth, if you do make it big as a rocker, start that studio, and I'll be your intern!!!!

;-)
