Ive been meaning to get round to buying some new pickup for my les paul. Its second hand and came with EMG active pickups which dont realy suite my style.
Anyway I've got it narrowed down to two choices
Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers or
Seymour Duncan 59s

I had been planning on getting a pair of Seth Lovers but now im starting to lean towards the 59s.
I play mainly rock/alt rock/brit pop/oz rock ect so along the lines of bands like early Radiohead, You Am I, Oasis. I mainly want something the gives a nice heavy distortion (heavy in the context of the music i listen too, if i wanted metal heavy id stick with what ive got ;)) and also light rythm distortion (i only play rythm so dont have to worry about a sound for any lead work). I'm also hoping to get something that doesnt sound crap when played clean too (as my current pickups do)

Anyway id appreciate your vote and any comments you might have. I'm gonna spend a couple of hours reading reviews of both models from harmony central as well when i get a chance.
Cheers

I'd say the 59 model. Seth Lovers might have problems with microphonics with the heavier stuff if you play at loud volumes. The 59 is also quite a bit less expensive if I recall correctly.

Voted 59s. They seem to be what would suit your style more, and I personally love them.

the seth lover model has alnico 2 magnets while the 59 has alnico 5 magnets, what this means is that the seth lover model will be warmer while the 59 will be more trebley (if thats a word), you may find the seth lover pickups to be to muddy, and the 59 to be too weak, personally i say go with something in the range of 14k dc resistance, this will be beefier, if you want a alnico 2 i say custom custom, though at this level it will be warm, but not muddy, if you want 5, go with the JB, i have it and love it, and its not gainy, it has a very clean sound, but can be pushed through a gainy amp for a hard rock tone, and is one of the best balanced pickups seymour duncan makes, my final opinion, go with the JB

just my opinion though :)

I put a SD custom custom in my Ibanez SZ520
I play heavy groove rock (others have called it heavy metal or nu metal  )
it sounds schweeeeet :D
its a classic sounding pickup but sounds great hevily overdriven and palm muted

A 59 in the neck position and a JB in the bridge position is the way to go.

Well ive pretty much decided to get 59s (although i might think about getting the JB in the bridge - just got one for my epi sherriton and its pretty nice)

Now i have to decide whether to get them the gold covered version or not. If you could have a look at the link below and give ur feedback id appreciate it

Also what makes the JB a better choice in bridge then the 59?

Ok well ive kind of changed my mind a bit now. Ive been realy happy with the JB in my epiphone but it seems to be more suited for distortion which isnt what i want from my epi. I think it'd probably suit the Les Paul better so what I want to do now is get the JB from my epi put into the les paul (hopefully the guitar shop can put a gold cover on it so it look more authentic) as well as geting a 59 for the neck. Then i'll get a 59 (which from what i've read/heard is better for a cleaner sound and for light distortion) put in the neck of my epiphone.

Does this sound like the right combination. I was thinking maybe the Seth Lover for the epiphone, but im not sure if i wanna spend too much on an epiphone
