Help! Our sound engineer from our church threw a temper tantrum and quit. We have the following items:

Mackie SR24 mixer
2 QSC RMX Series Amplifiers
BBE Sound Inc Noise Reduction 362 NR
DBX 231 Graphic Equalizer

We also have 4 speakers. How do I connect it all?

Right now, the only way that I have made it work is connecting it this way...
all 4 speakers are connect into the 2 amplifiers. 1 in each channel. From the amplifiers, 1 output goes to the Main Out on the mixer. 1 output goes to Sub Out 1 on the mixer, 1 output goes to Aux send 4 on the mixer and the other output goes to Aux send 5 on the mixer. When I plug the Graphic Equalizer in to the Main Insert on the Mixer, my sound to all 4 speakers dissapears... and I don't even know how to connect the Noise Reducer... someone please help!

I guess the first question is do you want the same thing going to all of your 4 speakers, or do you need to be able to send different signals to different speakers? for example, are some of your speakers monitors for performers? or are they for the congregation only?
Here is what i would do if all of your speakers are for the congregation:
take the main XLR outputs of the mixer into the inputs of the EQ. run the left EQ output into channel one of the first amp. run the right EQ output into channel 1 of the 2nd amp. now set both of your amps to "mono" mode, using the switches on the back. i can't remember exactly how they label those amps, but it will probably say something like "parallel inputs". i would not recomend putting it in "bridge mono" mode. just plain old mono will be fine. depending on how your speakers are placed, i would put the 2 on the left on the first amp, and the 2 on the right on the 2nd amp.

with this setup, you will have roughly a stereo set-up, with the equalizer effecting all speakers. you can use the gain on the amp to adjust your 4 "zones" if you need different volume levels in different parts of the room.

as for the noise reduction system, i don't see why you need it. your mixer, eq, and amplifiers are all at a quality level where noise isn't really an issue. perhaps if you are using cassettes you might need it, but only on the cassette channels. for now, don't bother hooking it up.

hope this helps.

Thank you

Thank you... ya it gives me a better idea on how to set it up...

I will run that connection today and let you know how it goes... thanks.

mixer main left and right --amplifier -- speakers
mixer aux prefader 1 & 2 -- eq -- amplifier -- speaker (stage moniters)
use the eq to cut bad frequencies cuasing feedback

good luck
