well then I suggest for $1200 budget, get yourself either the new AMD x2's or the pentium D, dual cores, with maybe at least 1 more gb of ddr2, and get yourself a bigger hard drive, video card can run you less then $200 for a GeForce 7600 256mb ddr3 (550mhz/1200mhz), and spend the rest of your money on recording hard ware.
a 400gb Seagate hard drive is like $110
you can get an AMD X2 4200 with Gigabyte motherboard for $390, or a 3800 for like 30 dollars cheaper... so for like $700 you can get a good set up, and have some money left over for other things you will need...
