Hi, i own a 424 mk III, wich i bought 3 years ago.It works really fine, but the problem i `ve got is when i try to record my demos onto an external tape recorder. I have a 20-year old Teac tape deck, an Aiwa and a JVC microsystem and a Panasonic radiocassette-cd. I tried to record my demos in all these recorders, and allways have the same effect : the sound "trembles",especially the electric guitar.
When i hear the demos direct from the 424 the sound is really fine, so the trouble must be on my tape recorders. i hope somebody could advise me what to do.¿Should i buy a new tape deck?¿would be better to buy a Cd recorder or install a Cdr on my computer and forget about tape recorders?

thanks for your helping

Buying another tape recorder is a nice idea,

but most people these days have migrated to recording mixdowns to their computer.

You'd playback on your Portastudio, and record into your computer's normal soundcard LINE IN, using an RCA to 1/8" stereo adapter cable. Record to WAV format, 16 bit/44.1Khz/stereo, and burn audio cds on the 'puter.

That's the latest, and best sounding way to record mixdowns.

... not to mention the standalone CDR/W recorder,

which looks and functions like a cassette recorder. This is also a good CDR option for field recording, and for those who don't necessarily want to record onto their computer.

The standalone CDR/W recorder offers the sound of digital, with the ease and convenience of component-analog, and is a very popular choice, indeed.

thank you; i think that the CDR/W would be a better option for people like me ( i don´t like computers).Maybe a CDR with my old teac amp will be a good choice to record my demos

Don't sell yourself short and miss out on the great advantages to mixing down to pc. It's a very simple process that pays off big time in editing cababilities alone. It's less involved than tracking to computer and in fact wouldn't be much more complex than mixing down to a standalone CDR/W.

Thanks for your suggestion.i´d like to use the Pc for recording the demo on cd, i mean sending to the sound card the mix already done on the 424. Sorry, i know this must be posted lot of times, but i´m just an stupid beginner...¿wich software should i use?

I've had the same problem

You may need to deguass and clean the head in the 424 itself. Tascam sells everything you need to do this.
